Wheatens are wonderfully calm with children, and make the perfect family dog. They are by no means "fragile" and are able to play happily with children of all ages, but nor are they so large as to make them difficult for a child to control.

Wheatens are also particuarly suitable for elderly people. Their wonderful dispositions make them great companions and they are easy to care for - they need only a few minutes per day of your time to keep the coat in good conditon by just putting a metal comb through their coat to get rid of any possible tangles.

All in all, Wheaten's suit any style of living. They are perfectly happy either in a rural, urban or suburban environment, and, provided they are walked regularly, will be calm, happy friends.
The Wheaten is also very suitable for a person with allergies. They do not shed any hair.
