Downderry has a reputation as an excellent breeder, but their Wheaten's are not just wonderful pets. Downderry Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers have an impressive show-winning record, and are beautiful specimens of what a Soft Coated Wheaten can be.

Star Wheaten of the year: Aero our Hero
Aero was a Champion within a few weeks of becoming old enough, and loves competing in both Agility and Obedience.
CDX is “Companion Dog Excellence” an obedience test of about 7 or 8 different exercises inc heelwork off lead, stays, temperament test, recall, retrieve, scent. This test has to be completed and passed in order to obtain this qualification. Aero achieved CDX on his first attempt an outstanding effort, before his 2nd birthday.
UDX is "Utility Dog Excellence" the first of 3 Working Trials certificates. This test consists of Tracking Scent through farm paddocks to find articles, retrieving over walls, scaling walls - Aero had to scale a wall 1.5m high - long jump at 2m long, heel work and stays up to 10 minutes with the handler out of sight. Aero gained his UDX at the age of 3 years, once again with extremely good marks.

As well as all these achievements, Aero also enjoys dog shows, where, among other awards, he has won Best of Breed twice at the NZ National Dog Show.

Aero hopes to one day achieve an ADX qualification (Agility Dog Excellence). He also hopes to continue with, and gain more certificates in Working Trials.
